Build a player watchlist for prop research (and get a game-day email)
Scrolling every prop on a 12-game night is how impulse bets happen. A short watchlist does the opposite: it keeps your research on players you actually understand, and it keeps your bets smaller in number and better in quality.
Why a watchlist helps
You can't know 300 players well. You can know 15 to 25. When you follow the same players every night, you learn their roles, their minutes, who they struggle against and how they play at home and on the road. That context is what turns a hit rate into a decision.
A watchlist is also a discipline tool. It's easier to stick to daily and weekly limits when you're only looking at a short list instead of everything the books post.
Who belongs on it
- Players with a stable role: steady minutes make their numbers more reliable.
- Players you watch: you'll notice role changes before the numbers do.
- A mix of stats: a scorer, a rebounder and a passer give you different kinds of props to research.
- A few from each sport you follow: NBA, NFL, NHL, college football and MLB all have players worth tracking.
Take players off when their role changes. A watchlist should reflect the season you're in, not last season.
