American odds
What does "american odds" mean in sports betting?
American odds show how much you risk to win $100 (minus numbers) or how much you win on a $100 bet (plus numbers).
-150 means risk $150 to win $100 profit. +150 means risk $100 to win $150 profit. The bigger the minus number, the bigger the favorite; the bigger the plus number, the bigger the underdog.
To convert to decimal odds: for minus odds, 1 + 100 ÷ odds (-150 becomes 1.667). For plus odds, 1 + odds ÷ 100 (+150 becomes 2.50).
Example
At -200 you risk $50 to win $25. At +300 you risk $50 to win $150.
