Profit boost
What does "profit boost" mean in sports betting?
A profit boost increases the winnings on one bet by a set percentage, usually up to a maximum stake.
A boost raises the effective price of a bet, which lowers the win rate you need to break even. It only adds value if you'd want the bet at its normal price or close to it. Books often attach boosts to parlays that already carry a lot of vig, so compare the before-boost price.
Example
A $25 bet at +150 normally wins $37.50. With a 50% profit boost it wins $56.25, the same as +225. The breakeven win rate drops from 40% to about 30.8%.
