What is an alt line in player props? Alternate lines explained
An alt line (alternate line) is the same player prop at a different number than the main line. If a player's main points line is 27.5, the alt ladder might offer 15+, 20+, 25+, 30+ and 35+. Lower numbers are cheaper to reach and pay less; higher numbers pay more and are reached less often.
How an alt ladder works
- Main line: the book's central number, usually priced near -110 on both sides.
- Lower rungs (for example 20+ under a 27.5 main line): priced like -300 or -500. Past games reach them more often.
- Higher rungs (for example 35+): priced at plus money. Past games reach them less often.
How to research an alt line
1. Pick the rung, then check the player's hit rate at exactly that number: last 5, last 10 and this season. 2. Convert the price to an implied probability. -400 is about 80%, -250 about 71%, -150 60%. 3. Look at the games behind the rate. A 9 of 10 at 20+ where most games were 30+ has more cushion than one where most were 21 or 22. 4. Check tonight's injury report and minutes news before the game.
Why stars' alt lines are popular
Stars' main stats are the most predictable markets in sports: a 30-point scorer reaches 20 in most games. That's why DARIMARKET's star lane leads with stars' obvious alt lines and this season's sample, like "25+ points in 7 of 7". A strong record is still only a record, never a sure thing.
Where to see them

FAQ
What does ALT mean on a player prop? ALT means an alternate line: the same stat at a number other than the main line, priced up or down to match how often it is reached.
Are alt lines worth it? It depends on the price versus the player's record at that number. A low rung that a player has reached in every game still has a steep price, and one bad night breaks the streak.
Which books offer alt player props? FanDuel and DraftKings both list alt ladders for points, rebounds, assists, threes and more in NBA, plus yards and receptions in NFL and points and shots in NHL.
