Indiana beat Nebraska 20-17 on the road, and it took a late surge to get there. Nebraska controlled the ball for 39:33, led 10-3 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 17-6 when Anthony Colandrea ran in a 39-yard touchdown early in the fourth. Indiana answered on the very next snap with a 75-yard Josh Hoover strike to Nick Marsh, then went 80 yards in five plays for a 44-yard Marsh touchdown that put the Hoosiers ahead for good with 7:13 left. Nebraska turned it over on downs twice after that. Two DARIMARKET plays cashed on this game.

What cashed

Anthony Colandrea 15+ completions (alt, targeted -300 or better): CASHED

  • Our read: Colandrea had cleared 15 completions in 14 straight games and was averaging 19.1 a game over his last 10. With Nebraska an 8.5-point home dog, we expected him to be throwing all afternoon.
  • What happened: He finished 25 of 43 passing, 263 yards with one interception, clearing the 14.5 line by 10.5. Nebraska ran 39 times too, so this was not a pure catch-up script. The volume came from a long day of sustained drives: Nebraska went 10 of 19 on third down and opened with a 13-play field goal drive.
  • Worth watching: Completions props for a quarterback this involved hold up even when his team is moving the ball, because the attempts come either way. Colandrea also carried 17 times for 47 yards, so his legs are part of the plan, not a replacement for the passing volume.

Indiana ML (-340 at DraftKings): CASHED

  • Our read: Indiana was laying 8.5 points on the road. Hoover had thrown four touchdowns against Rutgers, and Turbo Richard was averaging 9.3 yards a carry.
  • What happened: It was much tighter than the number suggested. Nebraska held Indiana to 65 rushing yards on 22 carries, with Richard limited to 10 yards on eight carries, and the Hoosiers went 1 of 10 on third down. Hoover made it work through the air anyway: 12 of 22 passing, 263 yards and two touchdowns, both to Marsh, who caught six passes for 187 yards. Indiana scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and finished with zero turnovers.
  • Worth watching: At -340 you are paying for the better team to win, not to win cleanly. Indiana's explosive passing game bailed out a stalled run game here. Moneyline prices this short only make sense when you trust the favorite to find another way, and this game showed Indiana can.

How the game played out

Nebraska's defense did its job for three quarters. Indiana's drives in the second and third quarters ended in punts, one field goal and the end of the half, and Nebraska kept the Hoosiers off the field with long possessions, including a 16-play drive in the second quarter that ended in a missed field goal. Jamari Sharpe's interception in the third quarter stopped another Nebraska drive. Once Indiana hit the first Marsh touchdown, the game flipped in under five minutes of clock.

Trends to watch

  • Colandrea threw 43 passes and ran 17 times. A quarterback carrying that much of the offense is worth checking for completions and attempts lines again.
  • Marsh caught six balls for 187 yards with a long of 75. Indiana's passing game leans on big plays to him, which makes his receiving yards worth a look when the run game is bottled up.
  • Indiana ran for 65 yards on 22 carries. If a defense can slow the Hoosiers on the ground, their rushing props deserve a closer look before you play the overs.
