MLB Tuesday Recap (Sep 29): What Cashed
The Wild Card round opened on Tuesday with two shutouts on our MLB board. The Padres beat the Cubs 8-0 and the Yankees beat the Red Sox 9-0, with the starting pitchers doing most of the work in both games. Fifteen DARIMARKET plays cashed across the two games: nine in San Diego and six in the Bronx. Here is where each one came from.
Cubs vs. Padres
Michael King threw 7 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts, which cashed both of his props, the Cubs team total under and the alt under on the full game. Fernando Tatis Jr. homered in his first trip to the plate and scored 3 runs, landing his H+R+RBI, total bases and home run plays, while Ty France and Matthew Boyd's strikeout line also came through. Read the full Cubs vs. Padres recap.
Red Sox vs. Yankees
Cam Schlittler struck out 10 over 6.1 innings without allowing an earned run, which covered the Yankees moneyline, his earned-runs under, the Red Sox team total under and the NRFI. Ben Rice hit two home runs, including an 8th-inning grand slam, to cash our long-shot home run play, and Paul Goldschmidt scored on that slam to land his combo line. What carried the night
Both games turned on a starter we backed. When a pitcher has a long track record of holding a lineup down, we like to stack the angles around him: his strikeout, outs or earned-run prop and the other side's team total under. Both of those stacks paid on Tuesday.
Both series continue with Game 2. The MLB board has the next set of plays, and if the team total bets are new to you, start with the total and alt line explainers.
